Nucor adjusts coating extras

Nucor has revised its galvanized and galvannealed coating extras effective Jan. 4, 2025.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker published updated extras on Monday of this week, moving from “Schedule E” to “Schedule D” extras.
“Consistent with our practice to monitor the cost of zinc, we have revised our galvanized coating weight extras effective with orders acknowledged for the week ending January 4, 2025,” Nucor said in a letter to customers.
SMU has created a comparison of the old and new galvanized coating extras (Table 1). Extras were lowered for roughly half of the selected products. Most of the remaining prices were unchanged from the mid-2024 revision, while extras were raised for a few specs. A history of Nucor galvanized coating extras is available here on our website.

Zinc is used in galvanized and other coated steel products and is the primary driver of coating extra price changes.
