Brown Strauss Purchases Black Diamond Pipe & Tube

Denver-based Brown Strauss Steel has acquired Black Diamond Pipe & Tube Inc. of Peotone, Ill., just south of Chicago.
The acquisition was effective Oct. 31. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Black Diamond, now operating as a division of Brown Strauss Steel, will continue to be managed by former owner Bob Shinn, and the current team will remain in place.
“We are delighted to welcome Black Diamond to the Brown Strauss family,” commented Kris Farris, president and COO of Brown Strauss Steel, in a statement sent to SMU.
“This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity for Brown Strauss and Black Diamond to serve existing and new customers throughout the Midwest, as well as to leverage our existing presence in Menomonie, Wis.,” he added.
Black Diamond stocks a wide inventory of pipe and tube products, including continuous welded, electric-resistance welded, double-submerged arc welded, and seamless pipe, as well as square and rectangular structural tubing. Its value-added services include saw cutting and shot blasting.
Brown Strauss Steel is an employee-owned structural steel service center. In addition to its Denver location, it operates facilities in Houston; Phoenix; Los Angeles; Spokane, Wash.; Longview, Wash.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Kansas City, Kan.; Stockton, Calif.; and Menomonie, Wis.
