Register for Weds Community Chat With Mercury Resources CEO Anton Posner
Written by Michael Cowden
July 12, 2022
Mercury Resources CEO Anton Posner will be the featured speaker on the next SMU Community Chat webinar on Wednesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. ET.
The live webinar is free. A recording will be available free to SMU members. You can register here.
We’ll talk about the global supply chain, why it’s still snarled and how long it might remain so.
We have long assumed that logistics issues would be temporary. Is that still a safe assumption with a war in Europe, a zero-Covid policy in China, and soaring energy costs? In other words, could the supply chain be stretched to the breaking point?
Or does the risk of recession mean we will one day look back fondly on the boom times when it was impossible to unload a cargo and move it to its destination?
Closer to home, we will discuss labor talks underway between the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA). They cover 22,000 workers at 29 West Coast ports. Automation is a big sticking point. How does the US modernize and automate its ports without risking disruptive labor actions?
Posner is in a good position to address such questions because Mercury Resources specializes in global supply chain management for commodities. The company’s end-to-end solutions include everything from warehousing to ocean freight as well as inland barge, rail and trucking services.
As always, we’ll keep it to about 45 minutes. You can drop in, learn something – and then get on with your day.
Finally, check out our Community Chat page, to see recordings of past webinars, including our last one with Wolfe Research Managing Director Timna Tanners.
