Flack Global Metals (FGM) will open a new metals service center near the port of Houston in the fourth quarter of this year, the company announced Tuesday. “FGM Houston” will be located on the campus of North Shore Steel and is FGM’s first physical location. The 60,000-square-foot facility will service flat-rolled steel, aluminum, and stainless products and will include warehousing and slitting capabilities.
Namely, FGM Houston will service painted hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized, Galvalume, and aluminum as well as bare and acrylic coated galvanized and Galvalume, bare aluminum, and stainless steel products, the company said.
FGM selected Houston for its strategic advantages. The primary one: the Port of Houston is one of the largest steel ports in North America, handling more than 1.3 million tons of steel in the first quarter alone.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the North Shore Steel campus with its proximity to the Port of Houston, including barge, rail, and truck access,” FGM founder and CEO Jeremy Flack said. “We see this as yet another way to help clients engineer supply chains that limit volatility and expand optionality.”
FGM Houston will bring additional slitting capabilities to the steel campus, including:
- 0.012” minimum up to 0.135”maximum thickness capabilities
- Up to 66” wide master coil
- 72” maximum coil OD, 30” minimum coil OD
- 20” ID or 24” ID acceptable
- 60,000 lb. maximum entry and exit coil weight
- 6,000 TPM capacity
“We are excited to welcome the Flack team to our campus,” North Shore Steel CEO Byron Cooper said. “We are both mission-driven companies whose core values align. That is the foundation upon which great partnerships are built.”
Founded in 1955, North Shore Steel (NSS) serves fabricators, OEMs, EPCs, resellers, and end users. With locations in Houston and Beaumont, Texas, NSS provides quick delivery across a full range of structural steel, sheet, and plate products.
Flack Global Metals was founded in 2010 with the mission to reinvent how metal is bought and sold. Twelve years later, the company has evolved into a hybrid organization with three distinct lines of business. FGM is an innovative domestic flat-rolled metals distributor and supply chain manager, an international commodities trader, and a global hedge fund.
