Atlas Up $100 Per Ton on Mechanical, HSS and Piling
Written by Michael Cowden
April 13, 2021
Atlas Tube aims to increase prices for mechanical tubing, hollow structural sections (HSS) and piling products by at least $100 per ton ($5/cwt) effective immediately.
The increase applies to all unconfirmed quotes and contracts, the division of Zekelman Industries said in a letter to customers Tuesday, April 13.
The company, the largest HSS producer in North America, also said all orders on its books would be protected from the price hike through May 7.
Steel Market Update does not formally track pipe and tube prices. But the increase broadly trends with increases in hot-rolled coil, the substrate used to make welded tubular products such as HSS.
