The deadline to submit your nominations for the 2nd annual SMU NexGen Leadership Award, sponsored by the Steel Manufacturers Association, has been extended through Aug. 5. The award is designed to recognize and celebrate the excellence of emerging leaders within the greater steel community. There’s still plenty of time to nominate the young stars within your organization.
And every qualifying nominee will be given a free place at this year’s SMU Steel Summit Virtual Conference.
What makes a great nomination?
If you need some inspiration, you can view the full winning entry for Meredith Meade of Tempel Steel, winner of the 2019 SMU NexGen Award: Click here to read the 2019 Winning Entry.

- Inspired and encouraged professional and personal development in self and others
- Contributed to the success of an initiative that benefited those outside his/her own department
- Assisted in attracting other young people into the industry
Rising Star:
- Recognized by peers as a positive force within the company
- Outstanding contributions toward completing a successful project and/or a change management program
The Winner of the Award will also benefit from:
