Nucor, SDI Adjust Galvanized Coating Extras

Both Nucor and Steel Dynamics have revised their galvanized coating extras due to the decline in zinc prices.
SMU has done an analysis on the old and new Nucor galvanized extras, provided below. Nucor extras declined by an average of 16 percent.
The comparison below shows old and new Steel Dynamics galvanized extras, which declined by an average of 29 percent.
Zinc prices declined significantly during the first quarter of the year, dropping from January’s high of $1.1186 to a low of $0.8236 in March. The current price for zinc is about $0.9112 per pound according to Kitco.
