February Steel Exports Down to 600k Tons

U.S. steel exports in February totaled 599,430 net tons (543,794 metric tons), down 5.8 percent from January and down 25.6 percent from levels one year ago.
The total February export figure is above the three-month moving average (3MMA, average of December 2018, January 2019, and February 2019) but below the 12-month moving average (12MMA, average of March 2018 through February 2019). Here is a breakdown by product:
Cut plate exports decreased 17.4 percent from January to 66,231 tons and were down 15.7 percent compared to levels one year ago.
Exports of coiled plate were 30,108 tons in February, up 3.8 percent month over month, but down 22.4 percent year over year.
Hot rolled steel fell 13.0 percent over January to 41,822 tons, and down 35.9 percent from February 2017 levels.
Exports of cold rolled products were 49,583 tons in February, up 0.3 percent from January, and up 0.5 percent over the same month last year.
Galvanized exports fell 10.7 percent month over month to 113,052 tons. Compared to one year ago, February levels were up 9.6 percent.
Exports of all other metallic coated products came in at 18,562 tons, a 3.2 percent increase from January, but a 19.3 percent decrease compared to one year ago.
