Heating and Cooling Equipment Shipments Remain Strong in August

Heating and cooling equipment shipments in August were up 3.6 percent compared to one year ago, according to data released by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) on Wednesday. On a year-over-year basis, total monthly equipment shipments have increased every month since October 2016.
Residential and commercial storage water heater shipments declined 7.9 percent year over year to a combined 706,259 units; 686,654 units were shipped for residential use and 19,605 units for commercial use.
Shipments of warm air furnaces totaled 320,849 units in August, up 11.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
Central air conditioners and air-source heat pump shipments rose 13.4 percent over a year ago to 742,171 total units; 494,177 air conditioners and 247,994 heat pumps were shipped.
