Heating and Cooling Equipment Shipments Remain Strong in July

Heating and cooling equipment shipments were up 6.5 percent in July compared to one year ago, according to data released by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) on Friday.

Residential and commercial storage water heater shipments were up 3.7 percent year over year to a combined 646,975 units; 631,474 units were shipped for residential use and 15,501 units for commercial use.

Shipments of warm air furnaces totaled 265,640 units in July, up 11.0 percent compared to the same month last year.

Central air conditioners and air-source heat pump shipments rose 7.3 percent over a year ago to 891,190 total units; 597,786 air conditioners and 293,404 heat pumps were shipped.
