Top 50 Steel Producing Companies in 2013

A recent report from the World Steel Association named the top 50 steel producing companies for 2013. ArcelorMittal was the worlds largest producer with 96.1 million metric tons of steel produced, followed by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation producing 50.1 million tons. Third place, with 45.8 million tons, went to Hebei Steel Group, followed by Baosteel Group with 43.9 million tons and Wuhan Steel Group with 39.3 million tons. The remainder of the top 10 producers included POSCO, Shagang Group, Ansteel Group, Shougang Group, and JFE. No U.S. steel producers made the top ten.

ISM: Manufacturing index fell in Oct to lowest point of ’24
Domestic manufacturing contracted for the seventh straight month in October, according to the latest report from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). This marks the 23rd time in the last 24 months that it has been in contraction.
