SMU Community Chat with Alan Kestenbaum of Bedrock Industries

Guests: Alan Kestenbaum

Alan Kestenbaum, founder of Bedrock Industries and the former CEO of Stelco, was the featured speaker on SMU’s recent Community Chat webinar.

We looked at Stelco’s recent sale to Cleveland-Cliffs and what made the low-cost, integrated Canadian steelmaker such an attractive asset. We also caught up with Alan about what he’s been up to since – including if there are any new projects in the works.

Why should you listen?

Alan is a metals industry veteran, with a proven global M&A track record, and a knack for reviving businesses and driving success.

You’ll get insights into what the North American trade landscape might look like under Trump 2.0. We’ll also discuss what Kestenbaum’s learned from his efforts to return Stelco to its status as an iconic Canadian steelmaker. And his thoughts on the USS/Nippon deal.

We in addition talked about M&A more broadly speaking, consolidation across the North American steel market, and Kestenbaum’s experience in other industries – including silicon and steelmaking raw materials.
