SDI Promotes Execs to New Recycling, Fabrication Roles

Steel Dynamics, Inc., Fort Wayne, Ind., today announced the transition of Miguel Alvarez to lead the company’s North American metals recycling platform effective March 31. Alvarez will be taking over for Russell B. Rinn, SDI’s executive vice president of metals recycling, who will remain in a consulting role until his retirement in July.
The steel producer also promoted James Anderson from his current position as vice president of the company’s steel fabrication operations to a senior vice president role retaining the same responsibilities, also effective March 31.
“Since joining Steel Dynamics over 10 years ago, Russ has played a key role as part of our senior leadership team and has been instrumental in our metals recycling strategy,” said SDI Chairman, President and CEO Mark. D. Millett. He credited Rinn for optimizing SDI’s recycling operations, including its strategic recycling growth in Mexico.
Millett also said he is pleased with the succession process that will see Alvarez promoted to senior vice president of metals recycling. “Miguel joined Steel Dynamics in 2019 as our senior vice president, Southwest U.S. and Mexico, to support our steel and metals recycling growth strategy in that region. In this role, he has gained considerable knowledge of our metals recycling operations and will help us further grow and optimize this platform.”
He also credited Anderson for growing the company’s steel fabrication operations since taking charge in 2019.
