American Heavy Plates is planning an expansion of its processing operations in Ohio.
The company, a supplier of heavy carbon and alloy steel plates and finished parts, has committed to investing $10.9 million in a finishing facility to enhance its operations in Clarington, Ohio.
An estimated $9.9 million will be used for machinery and equipment and another $1 million for facility upgrades.
The project is a collaborative effort with Ohio Southeast Economic Development, JobsOhio, the Ohio Department of Development, and the Monroe County Port Authority, all of whom contributed to making the expansion happen.
The company received a tax credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority and a grant from JobsOhio for the project.
“This latest investment will bring cutting-edge machinery and equipment that will boost American Heavy Plate Solution’s efficiencies and capacity as demand rises across sector lines for its high-quality steel plates,” JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef commented in a statement.
“American Heavy Plates is proud to have established a notable presence in southeast Ohio in a very short period of time and is also excited to announce this new round of investments that will increase our capabilities and create new jobs in the area,” said Roxana Stoicea, American Heavy Plates’ CFO.
American Heavy Plates was founded in 2017. Since 2020, the company has grown from 65 employees to 153 at present.
“This part of the OhioSE region has a strong presence in supplying the manufacturing industry with steel product and this growth keeps the company competitive while adding jobs and new investment,” added OhioSE VP Katy Farber.
