Global steel production slipped modestly in June as output declined in the world ex-China, according to the latest figures from the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
Globally, an estimated 158.8 million metric tons of crude steel was produced in June, worldsteel said. This was a 1.7% decline from the month prior, and comparable to the 158.1 million metric tons produced in June 2022.
June’s production is down 3.8% from this year’s peak of 165.1 million metric tons in March.

Steel production in the rest of the world (RoW) declined 5.3% from the month prior to 67.7 million metric tons in June, according to worldsteel’s data. So far this year, output in the RoW ex-China was highest during the month of May at 71.5 million metric tons.
