Alro Steel Marks 75 Years in Business

Alro Steel has marked 75 years in business.
Al Glick started Alro Steel with his brother Robert with one location in Jackson, Mich., in 1948.
Now with more than 3,000 workers, the company has expanded to over 75 locations in 15 states.
“We strive to be America’s premier metals, industrial supplies, and plastics service center,” the company said in a statement on Thursday. “We would like to thank our customers, suppliers, and teammates for their support to reach this milestone.”
Still headquartered in Jackson, Mich., Alro focuses on cut-to-size metals and plastics, with next day delivery to over 50,000 customers in North America.
Alro provides products and services under the following companies: Alro Steel, Alro Metals, Alro Metals Outlet, Alro Industrial Supply, and Alro Plastics.

Buyers participating in our first market survey of 2025 reported a slight decline in mill lead times compared to our last survey in mid-December. After rising moderately in early December, lead times edged lower through this week and are now only slightly above the lows seen back in July and November. Overall, production times have remained historically short since last summer, with minimal movement since then.
