Mill Steel Co. now ranks among the most successful companies in the United States whose top executives are women. The Grand Rapids, Mich.based service center has been certified as an Exceptional Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.
“We are always looking for ways to enhance our customer service and meet the needs of modern steel buyers,” said Pam Heglund, Mill Steel’s CEO. “This certification allows us to help businesses achieve their supplier diversity goals and aligns with our commitment to fostering diversity.”
WBENC, the largest certifier of women’s business enterprises in the U.S., is a leading advocate for women business owners, leaders and entrepreneurs
According to the nonprofit, its certification validates that a business is at least 51% owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women. Specifically, one or more women must have unrestricted control of the business, a demonstrated management of day-to-day operations, and a proportionate investment of capital or expertise.
With revenue over $500 million in 2021, Mill Steel is among the top 2% largest WBE’s in the U.S.
