Tube Producers Raise Prices Again
Written by Sandy Williams
June 15, 2021
Like the flat rolled steel they are made from, prices for pipe and tube products have increased in June. Leading producers said they are upping their prices due to rising raw materials costs, strong demand and volatile transportation charges.
EXLTUBE led off a series of tubular price jumps with a $160 per net ton increase on June 10 for its A500 and A513 products. The increase applies to all unconfirmed quotes and contracts. Orders booked prior to the announcement are price protected for shipments through July 7, 2021, the company said.
EXLTUBE’s announcement was followed by increases from Atlas Tube and Nucor Tubular on June 14.
Atlas Tube raised prices by $125 per ton for all new orders for mechanical, HSS and piling products, effective immediately. Products include all mechanical and HSS shapes through 16” SQ and all mechanical and HSS rounds up through 20” OD, the company said.
Nucor Tubular Products also raised its price by $125 per ton for all new orders of HSS, pipe, mechanical and piling products. All orders booked prior to the announcement are price protected for shipments through July 12, 2021. New orders, quotes and contracts not previously confirmed by Nucor will be subject to this increase.
