New Operations Leadership Appointments at Steel Dynamics

Steel Dynamics announced leadership appointments for its new Sinton Mill, Columbus Flat Roll Steel Division and a new position for SDI’s flat roll steel metallics strategy.
Dennis Black will become the General Manager of the Southwest-Sinton Flat Roll Division, effective Feb. 1, 2021. Black will be responsible for operations at the new Sinton Texas Flat Roll Steel mill scheduled to begin operations in mid-2021. Black has served as General manager of Vulcan Steel Products Division, successfully leading the integration and operation of the long products steel processing facility since its acquisition in 2016. Black was part of the 1994 team that constructed SDI’s first flat rolled steel mill and eventually served as the hot strip mill manager at the Butler Flat Roll Division. Black also held leadership positions in the Structural and Rail Division.
Madhu Ranade, currently serving as Vice President and General Manager of the Columbus Flat Roll Steel Division and a 43-year veteran of the steel industry, will transition to a new position responsible for procurement of iron and iron substitutes for the company’s flat roll operations during the first quarter of 2021.
Daniel Keown will become the new General Manager of the Columbus Flat Roll Division, effective Jan. 1, 2021. Keown has led the Engineered Bar Products Division within the Long Product Steel Group since 2014 and was part of the team that reengineered, started and operated the facility after its acquisition in 2004. Keown began his career with SDI in 1998 as process engineer at the Butler Flat Roll Division.
