Tube Mills Raise Prices by $50 Per Ton

Leading pipe and tube producers have announced another price increase of $50 per ton, as the cost of the flat rolled used to make tubular products continues to increase and market conditions continue to tighten.
Nucor Tubular Products informed customers Tuesday, Oct. 13, that prices will increase on new orders of HSS, pipe, mechanical and piling products by $50 per ton. “This increase is a result of continued strong demand. We continue to monitor tightness in the transportation market and the impact that could have on future transportation costs,” the company said.
All orders booked prior to this announcement will be price protected for shipments through Nov. 6, 2020, Nucor said.
Likewise, EXLTUBE followed Nucor’s lead with a $50 increase of its own.
Said one tube mill executive: “Lead times at both steel mills and tube mills continue to extend and availability is very tight. I’m not seeing heavy inventories at service centers or OEMs. I would expect this trend to continue until supply catches up with demand.”
