Alliance Steel, LLC, is open for business at its new headquarters in Gary, Ind. The company’s Bedford Park location will cease operations in mid-2020.
Alliance, a leading distributor and processor of flat rolled steel, has been in operation on Chicago’s south side for 20 years. The company announced its plans to relocate to Northwest Indiana in December 2019. The new location, at 2700 E. 5th Ave. in Gary, will bring more than 100 jobs to the community.
“We are extremely excited to begin the next chapter of Alliance Steel at our new state-of-the-art offices and processing facility. We have put ourselves in a highly strategic position for continued growth with proximity to the NWI mills as well as several major ports,” said Alliance President Andy Gross.
Alliance Steel’s new headquarters includes 290,000-square-feet of warehousing and processing space, with slitting capabilities ranging from .009-.500 up to 76” wide on multiple slitters, a Redbud stretcher leveler, a Redbud multi-blanking line with a Herr-Voss leveler, fiber laser cutting, shearing, metallurgical testing, cold reduction and toll processing. Supply chain solutions include inbound and outbound rail service, drive-through bays, and recessed docks for van and flatbed loading. In addition to extensive processing and supply chain capabilities, the new facility has two large, temperature-controlled coil storage bays.
“We have made several investments in the latest coil processing equipment, which will complement an already robust arsenal of capabilities. Our team is excited to settle in and begin laying down our roots here in Northwest Indiana,” Gross said.
Alliance also has locations in Memphis and Atlanta. For more information, visit alliancesteel.net.
