SMU NexGen Leadership Award Nominations Close with 21 Candidates

Steel Market Update is pleased to announce we have closed the nomination process for the 2019 SMU NexGen Leadership Award, and we have 21 solid candidates.
Steel Market Update and the Steel Manufacturers Association want to say “well done” to each of the candidates and their nominating company. The judges will be reviewing the nominations over the course of this week and we hope to announce the finalists (three people) soon.
Here are the 21 people nominated for this year’s award:
Alliance Steel nominated Drew Gross – “…Drew has matured over the past 10 years into a strong company leader and is always in the forefront of providing clear vision into the future of Alliance Steel.”
Big River Steel nominated Kristin Boyle – “…Since Ms. Boyle joined BRS, she has quickly moved up the leadership ranks due to her willingness to cultivate change in a rapidly evolving company….”

The winner of the 2019 SMU NexGen Leadership Award will be announced during the 2019 SMU Steel Summit Conference in Atlanta on Aug. 26-28.

Worthington Enterprises’ earnings dip in fiscal Q2’25
Worthington Enterprises' profits edged down in its fiscal second quarter of 205 vs. a year earlier. The company said a slump in sales in the quarter was due largely to the "deconsolidation" of the Sustainable Energy Solutions segment in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024.

It's that time of year again. You know, that time when people wonder if those things are drones in New Jersey or if the aliens are ready to come onto the stage just in time for Inauguration Day. What will that do for steel price volatility? In any case, the SMU team finds itself in Pittsburgh this week.
