Please feel free to forward this issue of Steel Market Update to your customers, suppliers or executives within your company.
- The 2019 SMU Steel Summit Conference will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center.
- The dates for the conference are: Aug. 26-28, 2019.
- The convention center and the Gateway Hotels (Marriott Gateway, Renaissance and SpringHill Suites) are accessed via the SkyTrain from the airport. They are the first stop; the second is car rentals. The Atlanta Airport Marriott (not the Gateway) has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
- The conference begins at 10:30 AM with a special workshop hosted by the CME Group regarding Managing Price Risk. The workshop will be held at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway Hotel right next to the convention center. The conference will begin at 1 PM at the Georgia International Convention Center.
- First SMU NexGen Leadership Award (SMUAward.com).
- Launch of the SMU Service Centers Inventory Index (during the opening on Monday at 1 PM).
- The cost to attend the conference is $1,375 per person with discounts given for SMU/CRU members ($100 per person discount) and companies that are bringing more than one person ($100 per person discount). NexGen Leadership Award nominees get in at $675 each. Finalists for the award will have their fees waived.
- Registration link is here, or you can go to SteelMarketUpdate.com/Events/Steel-Summit for more details.
- Hotel registration and room block status: The Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway Hotel room block is sold out as is the Atlanta Airport Renaissance Hotel. The Atlanta Airport SpringHill Suites Gateway may have a few rooms left and the Atlanta Airport Marriott Hotel (located an exit south of the convention center) has about 70 rooms left. We will run a shuttle from the hotel to the convention center.
- Expected attendance is approximately 1,000 executives from manufacturing, fabrication, steel distribution, steel mills, trading companies, toll processors and companies servicing those industries.
- Current registrations are approximately 700 executives from about 300 companies. A list of the companies can be found on our website SteelMarketUpdate.com/Events/Steel-Summit
Keys to a successful conference:
- Arrive early and stay late, networking is unmatched by any other conference in North America.
- Agenda is solid with quality speakers on a wide variety of subjects.
- Use the SMU App, which will be released to attendees by mid-July.
- Plan your schedule in advance (our App will assist in that process).
- Book hotels now (if you have not already done so).
