2019 SMU Steel Summit Conference Registration Now Open
Written by John Packard
December 20, 2018
We have opened registration for the 2019 SMU Steel Summit Conference, which will be at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta on Aug. 28-30, 2019. We anticipate that 1,000 executives from the manufacturers, service centers, steel mills, trading companies, fabricators, toll processors and others associated with these industries will be in attendance.
“I have been attending the conference since the inception of SMU. Every year the conference gets better and better, more speakers, they know the lay of the land, know exactly what they are talking about, they provide recommendations on forward years, as well as economic policy additions. Plus, the venue is outstanding!”
Jeffery Bush, Director of Sales, U.S Steel Corporation
SMU President & CEO John Packard has been working with his team on preparations for the agenda and speakers for the 2019 conference for a few months now. “This will be the best steel conference in North America during calendar year 2019,” said Packard. “If you are going to attend one event, there is no question that the SMU Steel Summit Conference is the conference where you will see your suppliers and customers and where you want to be seen.”
“Coming to this conference is an absolute ‘no brainer’ for us, you’ve got 900 of the top industry execs…. It’s a fantastic setup and great opportunity for us to network with key decision-makers.”
John Armstrong, CEO, Reibus
Steel Market Update is not yet publishing the agenda for the conference. Packard explained, “We don’t want our competition to know where we are going, what we will be focusing on and who will be our principle speakers for 2019. Every year we put on a different show. We like to sprinkle some of the high-quality speakers like Alan Beaulieu of ITR Economics, who will be joining us again in 2019, with new topics and speakers not seen previously at our conference or at any other conference.”
“What’s also great is to get a broad spectrum of the industry supply chain represented, which allows for the diversity of thought and opinion.”
Philip Bell, President – Steel Manufacturers Association
The conference has grown over the years with the 2019 event being our 9th Steel Summit Conference. SMU has learned the value of an accessible venue, quality program and what is needed to attract the decision-makers of the manufacturing, distribution and steel supplying industries. Every year that the conference has been held, it has grown both in attendance and stature. The 2018 conference attracted 912 attendees from across the United States, Canada and Mexico; the NAFTA region is our main area of focus. At the same time, we realize that the steel industry is a worldwide business and we need to understand what is happening outside of North America that could impact business and pricing here.
“I think it is the most important steel conference in North America, here we have all our suppliers, competitors, and customers.”
Gisbert Ruhl, CEO, Klockner & Co SE
The cost for the 2019 SMU Steel Summit Conference will be $1,375 for one person with a $100 per person discount given to companies that are SMU or CRU members, and another $100 per person for companies that send more than one person to our conference (even if not a SMU/CRU subscriber).
We are using the CRU registration system for 2019. You can go directly to their registration through this link. You can also go to www.SteelMarketUpdate.com/events/steel-summit where you can learn more about the conference, and there will be a link to the registration system on our site.
If you have any questions, please email us at info@SteelMarketUpdate.com or you can contact us by phone at 772-245-8630.
