New General Manager at U.S. Steel Gary Works

U.S. Steel has promoted Daniel M. Killeen to the position of General Manager Gary Works effective immediately. Killeen will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of U.S. Steel’s largest integrated steelmaking facility.
Killeen joined U.S. Steel in 1996 as a Management Associate at Gary Works. He went on to work in a series of increasingly responsible positions in the Iron and Steel Making departments at U.S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works. In 2007, he relocated to U.S. Steel Serbia as the General Manager of Finishing before taking the role of General Manager of Primary Operations in 2008. In 2009, he returned to the United States as the Division Manager of Steel Production at Gary Works where he remained until 2011, when he returned to Europe as Plant Manager Operations at U.S. Steel Serbia before transferring to U.S. Steel Kosice, where he held roles in Operational Improvement and Safety. In 2013, he returned to Gary Works where he held a number of positions in coking, finishing, and primary operations before advancing to his current position as Plant Manager Primary Operations in 2016.
Gary Works is situated on the south shore of Lake Michigan in Gary, Ind. Comprised of both steelmaking and finishing facilities, Gary Works has an annual raw steelmaking capability of 7.5 million net tons. The mill produces sheet products, strip mill plate in coils and tin products. Hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized sheet products are produced for customers in the automotive, metal building components, home construction and appliance markets. Tin mill products are used by customers in the container industry in the manufacture of food and beverage containers, aerosol cans, paint cans and pails, and more.

AISI: Raw steel production eases to 5-week low
