SMU Steel Summit Conference Speakers

For Steel Market Update’s upcoming steel summit Aug. 27-29 in Atlanta, we have recruited an exceptional group of speakers who are prepared to talk on a wide variety of topics of importance to those in the flat rolled and plate steel markets as manufacturers, distributors, steel mills, toll processors or suppliers to those industries.
Putting a program together is part artist, part soothsayer and part puzzle-maker. The amount of time invested in each conference program keeps three or more of us busy every day of the week (and on some weekends).
On Monday, we will hold what we call our “Pre-Summit” Conference, which is a way for us to say we are going to introduce programs that maybe wouldn’t get covered during the course of our normal programming.
A reminder that this year all three days will be in the Georgia International Convention Center. Due to the size of our group, the Marriott Gateway Hotel is not able to handle the Pre-Summit portion of our agenda. The first cocktail party will be at the GICC instead of the Marriott. After you return from dinner on Monday, you may want to wander over to the Marriott to see if there is a crowd of steel people hanging out in the lobby bar.
Pre-Summit Conference: Monday, Aug. 27 – 1:30 PM until 4:00 PM with cocktail/networking reception for all of our conference attendees to be hosted by Steel Dynamics to follow (4:00-5:30 PM). Registration will open at the GICC around 10 AM ET.
Tuesday, Aug. 28 – Doors open at 7:00 AM and the program will begin at 8:00 AM. Agenda calls for us to go until 4:00 PM at which time there will be a networking/cocktail reception for all of our conference attendees to be hosted by Heidtman Steel (4:00-5:30 PM).
Wednesday, Aug. 29 – Doors open at 7:00 AM and the program begins at 8:00 AM. Our plan is to end the conference by 3:00 PM, and we will have two dynamic programs at the end of the conference. One will be a special keynote address by Ron Insana, economic and political commentator for CNBC. The second program is currently a surprise and we will have more about it soon…
