PRO-TEC Coating Company, a 50/50 joint venture between United States Steel Corporation and Kobe Steel, Ltd., of Japan, announced today that its president, Bryan Vaughn, will retire effective June 1, 2015 after 34 years of service in the steel industry.
Brent Rosebrook, currently vice president of finance and administration at PRO-TEC, has been named acting president effective June 1.
“Under Bryan’s leadership, PRO-TEC has completed the installation of the Continuous Annealing Line, an achievement that has set the stage for the next generation of Advanced High Strength Steels,” said Jim Bruno, U. S. Steel senior vice president – automotive solutions and U. S. Steel Senior Management Committee Member for PRO-TEC. “He has led a dedicated team of Associates who have set impressive safety milestones, including two years of the best safety performance ever at PRO-TEC. We wish Bryan and his family all the best in his retirement. His dedication, enthusiasm and leadership will be missed by all of us.”
Vaughn began his career as a management associate at U. S. Steel’s former Geneva Works in Utah in 1981. Over the next 14 years he held increasingly responsible steelmaking positions at Geneva Works, purchasing at corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa., and casting at Mon Valley Works’ Edgar Thomson Plant outside Pittsburgh.
After working at U. S. Steel’s Research and Technology Center, also near Pittsburgh, as a research consultant, Vaughn was transferred to Gary Works in 1997 where he managed steel production and casting. In 2003, he was named division manager of sheet products for the facility. In June 2006, Vaughn returned to the Mon Valley Works as plant manager of Irvin Plant. He was named plant manager of U. S. Steel Canada’s Hamilton Works in October 2007 following U. S. Steel’s acquisition of Canadian steelmaker Stelco, Inc., a position he held until being named to his current role in June 2010.
Vaughn serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Manufacturers Association and chair of The Partnership for Excellence (TPE).
Rosebrook began his career as a staff accountant at Ernst & Young in 1992. In 1997, Rosebrook joined PRO-TEC as controller and was promoted to vice president of finance and administration in 2004.
Rosebrook is a board member and past president of Financial Executive International (FEI) Toledo Chapter. He is a member of the Ohio Society of CPA’s, the Ohio Manufacturer’s Energy Group and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he currently serves on the Fellowship Committee and is a past president of the Church Congressional Council.
