New Star Metals has acquired Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) a provider of acoustical products used in brakes, body panels, and engine components. MSC also specializes in electro-galvanizing and coil coating of flat-rolled steel and aluminum and provides products and services to the automotive, construction, appliance, and lighting industries.
“We are excited to complete the purchase of MSC, and we welcome its employees to the New Star team,” said New Star Metals chief executive officer Patrick Murley. “MSC has great facilities, innovative products and a very talented workforce. We look forward to growing our business by providing our customers with cutting edge products and outstanding service.”
New Star Metals, based in Chicago, provides metal products and supply management across a wide range of end markets. The acquisition of MSC will enhance New Star Metals’ participation in light weighting of vehicles, said Mike Noble, chief commercial officer of New Star Metals.
“With our ability to coat ultra-high strength steel and aluminum as well as produce laminates and composites, we have a unique product and services offering,” said Noble.
MSC will continue to operate under the Materials Sciences name as it is integrated into New Star.
