Written by John Packard
March 16, 2014
The partnership between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp (NSSMC) has created a new sales entity for a portion of the flat rolled produced at what was once ThyssenKrupp Steel USA in Calvert, Alabama.
The new 50/50 joint venture mill, renamed AM/NS Calvert, will have two sales groups much like I/N Tek which was originally a joint venture between Inland (now ArcelorMittal) and Nippon Steel going back to 1990.
In a letter to their customers, Metal One explained as with I/N Tek their trading company has been selected to sell the full lineup of steels produced at the Calvert steel mill. This includes hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized, aluminized and Galvalume steels.
