We are working into the night to get all of our existing members into the new website. Transition is always a fun project and our company has grown over the past 5+ years. So, this project has been a real challenge for us to complete.
There are bound to be bugs in the system. Sometimes links get broken as we made corrections over the past week or so and we don’t (or didn’t) notice them when the site came up. If you do see something amiss please let us know at: info@SteelMarketUpdate.com and we will correct the problem as soon as possible.
If you are new to Steel Market Update we welcome you and I want to remind our newest members that we enjoy comments, questions and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally: John@SteelMarketUpdate.com and tell your friends about us as well.
We had a very successful two single day workshops at one of the domestic steel mills earlier this week. The workshop was a custom program specifically designed to fit their specific needs. This is something we would enjoy doing for other steel related companies or the financial community. If this is something which may be of interest to you and your company contact us for more information: Info@SteelMarketUpate.com
We have just recently completed our Media Kit for those who may have an interest in advertising on either our website or the newsletters we produce. You can request a Media Kit by sending an email request to: Advertising@SteelMarketUpdate.com
As always your business is truly appreciated by all of us here at Steel Market Update.

It's that time of year again. You know, that time when people wonder if those things are drones in New Jersey or if the aliens are ready to come onto the stage just in time for Inauguration Day. What will that do for steel price volatility? In any case, the SMU team finds itself in Pittsburgh this week.

The Community Chat last Wednesday with ITR economist Taylor St. Germain is worth listening to if you couldn’t tune in live. You can find the replay and Taylor’s slide deck here. You can also find SMU reporter Stephanie Ritenbaugh’s writeup of the webinar here. Taylor is Alan Beaulieu’s protégé at ITR. Many of you know Alan from his talks at SMU Steel Summit. I found Taylor’s analysis just as insightful as Alan’s.

Cracks have formed in what has been presented as the Biden administration’s united front against Nippon Steel’s play for U.S. Steel. A report from the Financial Times said parts of the administration are at odds on the deal.
